Working For FREE
America’s First Lady, Michelle OBAMA is asking Americans to volunteer. The uncompensated staff and UCLA interns at the Jeanine Horowitz Education & Literacy Foundation are all volunteers and work up to six days a week from 6Am to 9AM before heading off to their regular paying jobs or starting classes at UCLA. The Jeanine Horowitz Education & Literacy Foundation is a 501c3 organization dedicated to promoting Education and Literacy. Throughout the year the unpaid staff, volunteers and interns diligently work early mornings and on many weekends to provide the general public with academic scholarships, mentorship and literacy programs. This Saturday and Sunday on December 5th & 6th, 2009, the community including : 57 school throughout Los Angeles County, city fire fighters from Santa Monica, WLA and Beverly Hills, City mayors and councilmen, and the JHF staff will unite for FREE CommUNITY Literacy Program, an out-of-school reading program that provides: city officials reading to children, local fire fighters teaching children about fire safety and prevention, free LIVE puppet shows, Big red Fire engines, face painting, balloons, special mascot appearances, and toys for children throughout Los Angeles County! The volunteers at the Jeanine Horowitz Education & Literacy Foundation have reached over 65,000 family households, and again partnered with Koo Koo Roo Restaurant and received support from Party City. Communities are volunteering and uniting for Education and Literacy despite the volatile economy!!!

There are many charitable organizations helping the most in need, but none are dedicated exclusively to helping the working poor fund their educations. The Jeanine Horowitz Education & Literacy Foundation assist working families who do not depend on government assistance; but, hard working Americans whose lower pay income keeps them living abase .
Who would have imagined that a once homeless woman would return and graduate from UCLA with degrees in Education and Religious Studies, become an ordained Pastor of Solutions Christian Church at The Salvation Army where she once lived, a publisher, AND form the Jeanine Horowitz Education & Literacy Foundation to exclusively help the working poor.
