2001 CommUNITY Literacy Program - WLA Initiative

Founder and illustrator.jpg

A person who can read can write their own destiny. It is vital that we continue to promote the importance of reading and writing to children and adults. Bring your children to events and buy a book as your contribution to help promote literacy to all.

WLA Community

In the dining nook of Koo Koo Roos Retuarant on November 17, 1001, over two hundred West Los Angeles families and local fire station No 37 came out to support the founder, Jeanine Horowitz with Illustrator Fred Tatasciore as they read and entertained children with face painting, toys and food from New York Pizza and Pasta and drinks from Jamba Juice.

WLA Firefighters

The Fire Fighter from station No. 37 joined the fun and taught children about the importance of safety and what to in the event of an emergency, fire and if someone was choking. Children are never too young to learn. Safety knowledge from attending a fun event may one day save a life.
